Dr. Seuss First Edition Books

Beginner Book Dust Jacket Back 'R' is an advertisement for Beginner Books.

  • It is important to note the last paragraph begins "Among recent Beginner Book titles are THE BEAR SCOUTS [...]".
  • 1968 Beginner Book Dust Jacket Back 'S' has the same advertisement, however the last paragraph begins "Among recent Beginner Book titles are MY BOOK ABOUT ME [...]".

While Beginner Books DJ Back 'R' is found on the first editions of the above books, it was also used by Random House during most of 1967 for the publication of the reprints of the earlier Beginner Books. It is quite common to find the earlier Beginner Books with this 1967 DJ configuration.

1967 The Bear Scouts - Fourth Berenstain Bears Book!

Beginner Book B-46 The Bear Scouts (1967) is the fourth book in the tremendously successful Berenstain Bears franchise, following the 1962 publication of B-28 The Big Honey Hunt (1962). There are over 300 books in the franchise, with an estimated 300 million copies sold worldwide since 1962!

The first edition B-46 The Bear Scouts is relatively underappreciated in the market relative to its impact and importance in American children's book history.
